Working with the boss's boss, as she is handling the interim until the position is filled. And she's very corporate. I like her, she's got a great personality, but she's been a long time in the corporate world. And that somehow scares the bejesus out of me. My former boss wasn't like that. He was hands off, I trust you to deal and if you need anything you know where to reach me. He was also laid back and warm. The corporate culture on the other hand is the same as any other corporate gigue I've ever tasted: sanitized, sterile, ambitious, with temperatures ranging from server closets to Antarctica. I think that's why I'm a little stressed. Good news is I'm back in the field next Wednesday and out of hq.
I finally found the former boss through LinkedIn and we have been corresponding.
My Debian isn't dead. It's just in a coma, still partitioned away. I need a boot loader to resuscitate it.
I'm seriously low on RAM - the hardware kind. Heading to Amazon to get 4GB :)
I need sleep, need more money, more time to play with Debian... don't give a rat's a$$ about boys when I am working with my toys - hard drives & memory, scoping out laptops, reading a 1400 page book on Ubuntu. After that book is sql, xml, vsp... somehow, somewhere html, php, ruby, iquery, etc.
Got a date tonight. Not excited. Just Tango guy. I'm not even interested in tango anymore. I'm busy day dreaming about writing code. And day dreaming about one day bringing down corporations for being so... corporate. They're ALL evil empires, overly sanitized of human warmth. If I could, I'd buy them up, dismantle them, turn them into many bits and pieces called small businesses.
