Plans, schmans

The client wanted to extend my contract for another month. But my contract with the new company starts Nov 1... so not to be. Besides, the new company is paying me more. And paying my agency less since I did all the sourcing work. I'm pretty excited to get started. It's a startup so I can shed the corporate settings and show up at work at 10 and leave later. It'll be nice not to have to get up so early anymore. I'm looking forward to it.

Currently the crazy hours have stopped and I'm back to a 40 hr work week so I've been using the extra time for happy hour and meet and greets. Although I'm getting bored with that shit too. I had a great time meeting someone last night - a very smart guy with a Berkeley bio research background who gave it all up to play poker. How's that for a story? He's very smart and very interesting. But after that, I realize I'm just as ho hum as before.

This weekend is packed with sail races - Saturday is the Great Pumpkin Race and on Sunday I'm going with Kathy to race on the Pink Boat up in Tiburon. All this racing and such has made me realize... I need a car. My pathetic efforts at finding a motorcycle wasn't to be. So now I need car shopping. Also, the surgeon mentioned how great it'd be if I had a car to get my butt down to Palo Alto and spend the night. He couldn't travel up to me since he needed to be at Stanford at 6:30 sharp the next day. Yeah, having a car would be good for my love life, huh? But more than all of that, having a car means I could hit up Napa and Tahoe with little trouble... but the biggest factor would be partying in SF all night and not worried about getting home after midnight when Bart shuts down. And I could visit the former boss in San Mateo. So... car shopping. Huh.

Tonight I'm gonna go out with Ivana and chill. I like her. She's fun, smart, interesting, and knows how to be a good friend. She's warm. I invited B out too, but we'll see if he finishes up work.
