Epic day in cyberspace

I had to leave work early today due to excitement over Operation Payback. With history in the making and hackers ddos'ing each other and major US companies, how can I focus on work? I wanted to be home in front of my computer munching on popcorn and watching the cyber-fireworks.

However, I had ballet class too. After a grueling hour of ballet, I raced back to my cpu for further news. Facebook took down a few pages, Twitter took down one, Visa is shutdown, Mastercard is still delirious, and Paypal was about to be crippled. I was envious of the hackers - making history, standing up for free speech, and transparency! And it must be the height of irony that Paypal suspended all payments to WikiLeaks, but anyone can still donate to the KKK. Blödes Arschloch.

I must confess that my sympathies lies with WikiLeaks. Wasn't it just last week that Hillary Clinton admonished China for its censorship of the internet and lack of human rights? And this week the State Dept sends letters to Visa, Paypal, and other companies to Cease & Desist all operations and funds to WikiLeaks. The US Attorney General, that idiot Eric Holder, is trying to prosecute Julian Assange. For what?! What laws did he violate? He's not an American, has never stepped foot on American soil, did not steal anything. He's an Australian journalist. And if this is all about publication of those cables, then why isn't the New York Times being punished too? Scandalous hypocrisy.

Truth is the treason of the Empire of Lies.

I love what the Economist wrote.. "the 24 Hour Athenian Democracy." http://www.economist.com/blogs/babbage/2010/12/more_wikileaks
This is true democracy.

In other spaces, I texted the Mulberry bush about these goings on and we had a good discussion. Then we talked on the phone for a bit and things went south when I asked him to get on gmail chat. He confessed to be a techno-phobe. Huh? That doesn't make any sense... how does a twenty-something individual in this day and age be such? It Boggles my mind... and he works for a company spitting out new gadgets and techs almost everyday. I was flabbergasted by this. Then he started yelling at me. At which point I said goodnight and hung up. Really, I've been yelled at enough in my life. I'm not taking another minute more. Ever.

Tomorrow will be exciting... to read about the next stage (possibly the end) of these ddos attacks between Pro-WikiLeaks and Anti-WikiLeaks. Uttery fascinating to me. Really, the government is getting out of hand. And also, going to go go-karting with a Hugh Jackman clone. I hope go-karting is all that it's cracked up to be :)
